ROBERT H. MOATS [McHenry]

MCHENRY — Robert H. Moats, 85, of McHenry, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.

Born Sept. 17, 1928, in Aurora, W.Va., he was the son of the late Guy Hugh and Icie Alvina (Bufon) Moats. He was preceded in death by four children, Randy, Stanley, Carl and Patricia Moats; five brothers, Kenny, Lee, Dayton, Bernard and Elwood Moats and two sisters, Bessie Stemple and Mary Moats.

Mr. Moats was a retired saw miller and was a member of Calvary Tabernacle, Accident.

He is survived by his wife, Joann Carol (Vance) Moats; three sons, Eugene Moats and wife, Ellen, Grantsville, Roy Allen Moats and wife, Amanda, Aurora, W.Va., Rick Moats and wife, Earlene, Friends-ville; five daughters, Carol Ann Thrasher, Fort Ashby, W.Va., Barbara Beeman, Oakland, Robin Rice and husband, Rob, Grantsville, Kimberly Moats, McHenry, Tammy Schrock and husband, Calvin, Accident; one brother, Dale Moats, Aurora; one sister, Beulah Burgess and husband, Buck, Rowlesburg, W.Va.; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Highway, Accident (McHenry), on Monday on 2 to 4 and  6 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Tabernacle, Accident, with the Rev. Pascal Crites officiating. Interment will be in Sang Run Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carl Moats, John Cosner, Terry Cosner, Rick Moats, Jr., Brian Moats and Jerry Cosner.
