— LITTLE ORLEANS — Paul Nelson Smith Sr., 90, of Little Orleans, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 at his home.

Born Aug. 10, 1923 in Little Orleans, he was the son of the late Conda N. and Edith Creek Smith and the husband of Freida M. Bible Smith whom he married May 1, 1946.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an M.P. in France and Germany.

He was retired from the Maryland State Roads as a foreman and was a lifetime farmer.

He was a member of the James W. Bowers Lodge 173 AF & AM Hancock; a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Forest 95, Hagerstown, and a member of the Piney Plains United Methodist Church, Little Orleans.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Paul N. Smith Jr. and wife Cheryl, Steven J. Smith and wife Nancy all of Hagerstown; one sister, Ruth Whitfield of Monroeville, Pa.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; he was also preceded in death by one sister, Jane Burns Hoopengardner; and two brothers, Merle Smith and Donnie Smith.

A service will be held Thursday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Piney Plains United Methodist Church, 12708 Faith Circle, N.E., Little Orleans, the Rev. Fred Iser will officiate. Burial with a military graveside service by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, on Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday 10 to 11 a.m.
