MELVIN C. “MICK” KELLER JR. [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Melvin C. “Mick” Keller Jr., 68, of Cumberland, went home to meet his daughter, Ashley, and infant with open arms on Oct. 19, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He was born Feb. 26, 1945 in Cumberland, son of the late Melvin C. Keller Sr. and Rose E. (Muia) Keller. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Nicole (infant) in 1980; an infant, 1985; and his father and mother-in-law, Victor and Maryland Reynolds; and brother-in-law, James Reynolds.

Mick was a 1964 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He was a retired Army veteran, having served from 1965 to 1975, a retired machinist from ATK, and a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men’s group. Mick was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, Washington Redskins and the University of Maryland. He enjoyed reading and going to the movies.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Vickie Keller; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Leamon and husband James, Edward Reynolds and wife Barbara, Jane Miller and husband Ben; nieces and nephews, Wrentha Graham and husband Jeff, Brian Reynolds, Natalie Shelton and husband Jesse, April Kinser and husband Doug; great nieces and nephews, Colin and Lauren Graham, Courtney, Megan, and Brian N. Reynolds, Austin and Ashton Shelton, Logan and Landen Kinser.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.  

A service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Richard Jewell officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Military honors will be accorded by Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, 24 Humbird St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
