— SHANKS, W.Va — Gloria Jean Mayhew Haines, 68, of Shanks, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland.

Born Feb. 3, 1945 in Vanderlip, W.Va. she was the daughter of the late Elsie B. (Buckley) Mayhew and William E. Mayhew.

She is the last of her immediate family and preceded in death by two infants, one brother, Courtney and one sister, Kathleen; two brothers, Richard Mayhew and William R. (Sonny) Mayhew; two sisters, Josephine Davy Starnes and Margaret Meek.

She was a very hard worker, retired from the Hampshire County Board of Education with 33 years of service as a cook. She was a homemaker, loved crafting, gardening and very giving to others to make them happy and smile. She was very dedicated to her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved her pets, especially her dog Betsy and her niece’s dog, Angel. She loved the lord and was very dedicated to him. Baptized in God’s Word Fellowship Church where she is a member, Indian Heights, Romney, W.Va.

Surviving is her husband of 50 years, William E. Haines; two sons, Richard Edward Haines and special friend Tammy of Inwood, W.Va., and Jason Eugene Haines and special friend Christy Combs of Capon Bridge, W.Va.; one grandson, Joshua Steven Haines of Capitol Heights and special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at the McKee Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dave Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at St. Lukes Cemetery Romney, W.Va. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

All arrangements are being handled by the McKee Funeral Home of Augusta, W.Va.
