CRESAPTOWN — William Scott Pope, 88, of Cresaptown, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at his residence.
Born Nov. 27, 1925, in Meyersdale, Pa., he was the son of the late Herbert and Emma (Blocher) Pope. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lois (Lancaster) Pope and two brothers, Harry and Oliver Pope.
Mr. Pope worked in the maintenance department for the Celanese Corp. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Cresaptown Eagles, Aerie 2883, Haystack Sportsmen’s Club and Woodmen of the World, Lodge 41, Grantsville.
He is survived by his wife, Janis (Lee) Pope; three sons, Robert Pope and friend, Rhonda, Melbourne, Fla., Francis Pope and wife, Diane, Upper Marlboro, James Pope and wife, Becky, Bluemont, Va.; a daughter, Betty Parker, Durham, N.C.; a step-daughter, Cheryl Lynn Feaster, Short Gap, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Zachary Pope and wife, Mary, Zeb Pope, Francis Pope and wife, Christine, Nathan Pope and wife, Jienna, Janet Diane Austin and husband, Benjamin, Jacob Pope, Jason Pope and wife, Michelle and Brian Parker; two step-grandchildren, Sara and Cody Feaster and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A W.O.W. memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Services will be conducted in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
