CUMBERLAND — Clewell Ashby Twigg, 85, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 12, 1928, in Cumberland, Mr. Twigg was the son of the late Kanova Charles Twigg and Gertrude Elizabeth (Emerick) Twigg.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Emmadale D. Twigg, May 1, 2009; a sister, Meldria June Twigg, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Clewell was a cook at Memorial Hospital with 43 years of service and a member of the Central Assembly of God Church.

Clewell is survived by his stepsons, Jesse L. Shipe Sr. and wife, Christine, Craig S. Ship and wife, Kathy, all of Oldtown; his step-grandchildren, Jesse L. Shipe Jr. and wife, Patti, Randy Shipe and fiancée, Melissa, all of Oldtown, Craig R. Shipe and wife, Kristi, Oldtown, and Dana Cannon and husband, Chad, Mechanicsville, Va.; as well as his step-great grandchildren, Whitney, Kylee, Logan, Darrin, Brenden, Zachary, Alyssa, Kori, Haley, Zac, and Kaylee.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, ( on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, from 2 to 4:00 and from 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Charles Riggleman officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Shipe, Jr., Randy Shipe, Paul Coffman, David Morgan, John Passmore, and Calvin Dolan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 1050 E. Industrial Blvd, Unit #3, Cumberland, MD  21502.
