— MOUNT SAVAGE — Donald Thomas Trexler, 67, of Mount Savage, went to be with our Lord on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born Nov. 19, 1946, in Cumberland, Mr. Trexler was the eldest son of the late Donald Thomas Trexler Sr. and Myrtle Elouise (Robertson) Trexler.

Don or “Pappy” as he was known by all, was a graduate of Mount Savage High School, class of 1964.  Don was a four-year veteran of the United States Army having served 18 months in Korea with the 7th Missile Battalion, 5th Artillery.  Don had worked two years at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company and after 24 years as a locomotive engineer, he retired from CSX Transportation.  Don was a member of the Kennels Mill Sportsmen Club.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him.

Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Darlene "Poopsie" Trexler; as well as his three sons, Donald Thomas Trexler III and fiancé, Wenona, Cumberland, Ma-tthew Shawn Trexler and wife, Michael, Mount Savage, and Timothy Ryan Trexler, Homestead, Fla.  Also surviving is his stepson, Robert Keith Clark, Keyser, W.Va.  He also leaves behind his brothers, Vaughn Lakin Trexler, Mount Savage, and Steven Garfield Trexler who serves as a missionary in Liberia, Africa.  

Also surviving Don are his grandchildren, Zackary Ryan Trexler and "special friend" Samantha Miller, LaVale, Tyler Shawn Trexler, Hyndman, Pa., Chase Austin Trexler, Synthy Michael Trexler, and Emmy Elizabeth Trexler, all of Mount Savage, Sierra Cheyenne Clark, Keyser; and his great-grandsons, Jacen Tyler Trexler and Ryan Zane Trexler, LaVale.  Don also leaves his only nephew, Joshua Christian Trexler, Missoula, Mont. and his only surviving aunt, Violet "Babe" Robertson, Mount Savage; as well as numerous cousins.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, ( on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at 1 p.m.

Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Zackary, Tyler, and Chase Trexler, and close family friends, Michael Zona, Keith Holler, and James Riggleman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Global Face Mission, c/o: Steven Trexler to help with his work in Africa.
