CUMBERLAND — Nancy E. Briner, 84, of Cumberland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at her home.
Born April 13, 1929 in Windber, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Arthur and Mary (Chiapelli) Vespa. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Briner; one brother, Joseph Vespa.
Nancy was a member of Central Assembly of God Church. She was a licensed Assembly of God Minister, and was owner/operator of The Christian Music and Book Store in the Country Club Mall. Nancy led the Tri-State Christian Women’s Group. She and her husband were evangelists, and they also led the Youth for Christ. She loved her cats and playing her piano. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and sharing the love of Jesus with everyone she met.
Surviving are her daughter, Kathy L. Courville and husband Don; her son, James I. Briner and wife Donna; two brothers, David Vespa and Reynold Vespa; five grandchildren, Kristin Briner, Heather Briner, Ryan Briner, Anastasia Finch, and Josh Finch.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., (www.scarpellifh.com) Cresaptown, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at Central Assembly of God Church on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Gulbronson officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
