— OAKLAND — Rev. Carol Henry Youse, 78, of Oakland, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Oakland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Oakland.

Born Dec. 12, 1934 in Lebanon, Pa., he was the son of the late Paul Albert and Caroline Elizabeth (Cox) Youse. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Schroeder Youse; two brothers, Richard Youse and Glenn Youse; one sister, Ann Sargeant.

Rev. Youse was a Pastor in the Lutheran Church for 37 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, Pa. and his master’s degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. He was on the board for Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation, Baltimore, and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha and the Organ Historical Society. He also worked in the civil rights movement in the 1960’s.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Rae ( Mattingly) Youse; three sons, Paul Albert Youse and wife Angie, Baltimore, Christopher Carol Youse and wife, Jennifer, Charlotte, N.C., Timothy Monroe Youse and wife Keri, Baltimore; one daughter, Elizabeth Youse Kielley and husband Timothy, Littlestown, Pa.; two brothers, Sam Youse, Ephrata, Pa., Paul Monroe Youse, Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Madeline May McGinity, Lebanon; grandchildren, Peyton Reilly Youse, Avery Isabella Youse and Madeline Joyce Youse.

At Carol’s request he will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Holly Comforter, 5513 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212 on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 1 p.m.

The Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 203 S. Second St., Oakland, is in charge of the arrangements.
