HARRY O. AMBROSE [Springfield, W.Va.]

SPRINGFIELD, W.Va. — Harry Osbin Ambrose, 87, of Springfield, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, after struggling four years with cancer.

Born Dec. 22, 1925 in Brunswick, he was the son of the late Jessie Winfield Scott Ambrose and Hazel Estella (Ault) Ambrose.

He was also preceded in death two sisters, Charlotte Cosner and Elizabeth Boher.

Mr. Ambrose was a graduate of Romney High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Germany and France with the 3rd. Infantry Division.

Mr. Ambrose was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, where he had been a tire builder.  

He was also a lifelong farmer. Harry loved his farm and worked side by side with his wife.

In his younger years, he loved to hunt, but then later respected the wildlife. He enjoyed watching the animals, the outdoors, and feeding the birds.

Mr. Ambrose was a member and deacon of New Day Baptist Church.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Juanita (Clites) Seeders Ambrose; two daughters, Janet Symansky, Wilkes Barre, Pa., and Joyce Santoro, and husband Mike, Falls Church, Va.; two sisters, Mary Cannon and Ellen Shanholtz, both of Romney, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Anna Symansky, Columbus, Ohio, Abby Cooke, California, Adam Symansky, and Andrew Symansky, both of Wilkes Barre, Tina Ward, Springfield, Va., and Michele Clair, Sterling, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Willy Clair and Lindsay Clair.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, W.Va., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted in New Day Baptist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Tom Curtis, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Porter Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Foor, Fred Ansel, David Ansel, Dewey Payton, Ernie Gough, and Donnie Wagoner.
