MARVIN E. HOLLINGSWORTH [Oakland]

OAKLAND — Marvin Eugene Hollingsworth, 65, of Oakland, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.  

Born on Jan. 30, 1948 in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Norman M. and Catherine (Boteler) Hollingsworth.  

He was a graduate of Central High School, a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War, and a 30 year employee of Safeway.  

Marvin enjoyed being an antiques and sports collectibles merchant after his retirement. He also had many hobbies including watching sports, running track, penny slot machines, bargain hunting, fast dancing, and especially spending time with his family.  Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vickie Hollingsworth; his son, Steve Hollingsworth and wife Lara of Oakland; his daughter, Vikki Hollingsworth and husband David Coontz II of La Plata; his two grandsons, who brought him never-ending joy, Michael and John Hollings-worth of Oakland; a sister, Joann Tolbert and husband Glenn of Culpeper, Va.; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  

A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Matthew Paugh officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
