— RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Grace O. Yancey, 73, of Ridgeley, W.Va., died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at her home.

Born Nov. 3, 1939 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow W. Lewis and Grace O. (Fraley) Lewis.

Mrs. Yancey was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of  1957.

She had been employed by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Wayne County, N.Y. Mrs. Yancey earned the rank of Sergeant and retired with 27 years of service.

Locally, she was employed at the Cumberland YMCA, where she assisted in the nursery.

Mrs. Yancey belonged to South Cumberland Assembly of God and had served as a Sunday School Teacher.

She is survived by her three children, Cynthia M. Kmiec, and husband Charles R. Kmiec, Philadelphia, Pa., Karl M. Yancey, Syracuse, N.Y., and Michael M. Yancey, and wife Sarah A. Yancey, Pittsford, N.Y.; three grandchildren, William M. Yancey, Colleen E. Yancey, and Margo E. Yancey; two brothers, Clarence W. Lewis, and wife Delores, Cumberland, and Donald C. Lewis, and wife Janet, Carpendale, W.Va.; nieces and nephew, Debra Hutson, Donald W. Lewis, Wendy Howser, and Shannan Lawrence; great niece and nephews, Julie Howser, Nicholas Howser, and Jarrett Lawrence.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Gene Riffey, officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be William Yancey, Charles Kmiec, Donald Lewis, Nick Howser, Fred Lewis, and Junior O’Neal.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers, the Schwab Family Cancer Center, nurses, doctors, and the staff of Mountain Hospice for the kind, compassionate care given to Mrs. Yancey.
