CUMBERLAND — Evelyn Genevieve Dawson, 81, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born June 8, 1931 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late John J. Thomas Summers and Emma Jane (French) Summers.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Putnam, Elizabeth Adams, and Jane Sherald.
Mrs. Dawson was Protestant by faith.
She was a former member of the Homemakers Club, Frederick. Mrs. Dawson had also been a volunteer at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth W. Dawson; two sons, Daniel W. Dawson and wife JoAnne, Ellicott City, and David B. Dawson, and wife Teresa, St. Albans, W.Va.; two daughters, Janet D. Beem, Cumberland, and Rebecca J. Shewbridge, and husband E. J., Cumberland; five grandchildren, John Dawson and Andrew Dawson, Ellicott City, Rebekah Beem, Cumberland, Meaghan Beem, Hagerstown, and Garrett Dawson, St. Albans.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Friday, March 29, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
There will be a private interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
