ORLANDO BOWER [Buffalo Mills, Pa.]

— BUFFALO MILLS, Pa. — Orlando Hillary Bower, 89, Buffalo Mills, walked with Jesus all of his life. On Nov. 24, 2013, surrounded by his closest family, he continued his walk into Heaven's gates. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma (Emerick) Bower, and siblings Bruce Bower, Leora Lewis, Grant Bower, Ethel Mazer Curtis Bower and Dorothy Aman.

Born Jan. 11, 1924, in Londonderry Township, Orlando was the son of the late William and Emma (Emerick) Bower. He married the love of his life, Doris (Holler) Bower on April 19, 1943, and spent 70 years loving her. Orlando served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He saw combat in the European Theater in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He served as private first class in the 9th Infantry Division.

Orlando retired from Celanese Fibers Corporation of America after working for 43 years. He was a member of the Bible Gospel Church. Orlando enjoyed spending time with his family and was a strong example of faith, love and dedication to all that knew him. He enjoyed taking walks and daily Scripture reading with his wife.

Orlando is survived by his wife, Doris (Holler) Bower; his children, Jo-Ann (Bower) Calhoun and husband Galen Calhoun of Everett and Randy L. Bower Sr. and wife Julia (Lockard) Bower of Buffalo Mills; grandchildren, Terry Calhoun and his companion Kimberly of Everett, Amy Calhoun of Everett, Angela (Bower) Ramsdorfer and husband Thomas Ramsdorfer of Johnstown and Randy L. Bower Jr. and wife Melissa Bower of Buffalo Mills; and great-grandchildren, Alexander and Alexis Calhoun of Everett, Katie and Adam Samuel of Everett, Haley and Addyson Schneider of Johnstown and Mia and Emily Bower of Buffalo Mills.

At the deceased’s request he was cremated. A memorial service is being planned and the family will release details at a later date.
