ELLEN T. LENKEY [Frostburg]

— FROSTBURG —  Ellen Theresa Lenkey, 99, of Frostburg, died Monday, March 17, 2014 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 19, 1915 in Frostburg, to Sam LaManna and Emma (Ruffo) LaManna. She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Julius “Hugo” Lenkey; a brother, William “Millie” LaManna; and sister, Francis Watson, and was the last of her immediate family.

For over 30 years Mrs. Lenkey and her husband Hugo, resided in New Brunswick, N.J., where she retired from the IRS in 1971 with over 35 years of service. They returned to Frostburg in 1980 and were members of St. Michaels Catholic Church, Frostburg. Ellen and Hugo, “Dear and Dear,” enjoyed traveling, especially back to Atlantic City, N.J., where they are fondly remembered by the many friends and associates they made there.  

Surviving are one nephew, Sam LaManna and wife Darlene, Frostburg; two nieces, Carol Gray and husband Milt, the Villages, Fla., Jeanne Watson Smith and husband Kirby, Kennett Square, Pa.; one great niece, Gina LaManna, Frostburg; and two great-nephews, Carl Watson Smith, graduate student at Virginia Tech, and Robinson Watson Smith, U.S. Army, Fort Drum. Aunt Ellen was also blessed with numerous cousins from the Ruffo and Peretti families, including three other “nieces,” Carol Lenkey, North Carolina, Vanessa Walker and Shera Chandler, Frostburg.  

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 11 a.m. until noon, followed by a funeral service at noon with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating.

Interment will be in St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery.

BRENDA S. FISHER

FLINTSTONE — Brenda Sue Fisher, 45, of Flintstone, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born July 29, 1968, in Johnstown, Pa., Brenda was the daughter of Sharon Rosalie (Kerr) Fisher, Johnstown, and the late Robert Lee Fisher. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Bradley Fisher; a sister-in-law, Pamela A. (Menhorn) Fisher; and a niece, Tracy L. Vivian.

Brenda was a graduate of Conemaugh Township High School.  

Besides her mother, Sharon, she is survived by her daughter, Jessica M. Fisher and fiancé, Josh Reed; her grandson, Connor L. Reed; and her partner of seven years, Sandy Hersh and her sons, Jimmy Smith and David Hersh. She also leaves behind her brothers, Robert Fisher and wife, Lorraine, Brian Fisher, and Billy Fisher; her sisters, Betty Frazier and husband, Jim, and Bernadine Kukola and husband, John; Sandy’s parents, George and Loretta Humbertson; close friends, Larry and Bert Karakosta; as well as numerous nieces and nep-hews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland,  (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from noon until 2 p.m., with a funeral service to conducted at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.

Interment will be in Fair-view Christian Cemetery.
