MARION J. (HAMMANN) LEASURE [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Marion June (Hammann) Leasure, 84, of Cumberland, peacefully passed away and entered into the Gates of Heaven on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center with her family by her side.

Born June 21, 1929, in Little Orleans, Mrs. Leasure was the daughter of the late Clarence Lewis Hammann and Naomi (Norris) Hammann Boone. She was also preceded in death by her husband of almost 66 years, Homer R. Leasure, April 10, 2013; a brother, Robert R. Hammann, 2002; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hammann; her wonderful companion and loving pet, Sandy; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1947, and on the same day was married to Homer Russell Leasure. Marion began her career at Sacred Heart Hospital as a Medical Records Transcriptionist and retired as the Director of Medical Records. She was a member of the LaVale United Methodist Church and the LaVale Methodist Church Women. Marion made many beautiful ceramic pieces and loved to quilt and sew. She was a member of the School House Quilters’ Guild and won numerous ribbons for her beautiful quilts at the fair. She also loved to shop. When you look up shopping in the dictionary, there should be a picture of her with her shopping bags! The term, “shop till you drop,” was her motto. “Do not cry for me, but smile, have a great day, and go shopping.

Marion, a devoted and loving mother, is survived by four children, her daughter, Sharon Leasure and husband, Steve Wilkinson, LaVale; her son, Craig Leasure and wife, Betty Jo, Flintstone; her daughter, Diane Andresakes and husband, Michael, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and her son, Thomas Leasure Sr. and partner, Barb Johnston, Woodstock. Marion is also survived by her grandchildren, Nikki Leasure, Andrew Leasure, Ryan Leasure, Natalie Leasure, Adam Boyd, Phil Boyd, Lindsay Iser, Tony Leasure, Tom Leasure Jr., Keith Durst and Zachary Leasure; two step-grandchildren, Jonna Wilkinson and Alex Wilkinson; seven great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Marion dearly loved her family, their photos proudly displayed in every room of her home.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
