RAWLINGS — Reva Faith (DuVall) Cook, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 21, at home.
Born in Cumberland on Dec. 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Egbert and Ethel (Reckley) DuVall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver “Cookie” Cook; a brother, Earl; stepmother, Lena (Williams) DuVall; stepsisters, Patsy Mooney and Liz Morrissey; stepbrothers, Jim and Danny “Sonny” Williams; and two special friends, Frances George and Gerry Umstot. She remained friends with Frances’ son, Eugene “Skip” Cramer.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Summerfield, and husband Ron, with whom she resided; two much loved grandsons, Larry Ashenfelter and wife, Larena, and Lee Ashenfelter and wife Charlotte, all of Keyser, W.Va. God answered her prayers by blessing them with wonderful wives; a very special granddaughter, Carla Appel, and husband Shawn, of Oldtown; four great-grandchildren and several great-great-grand-children; a sister, Hope Bell of Blue Ridge, Ga.; and stepbrothers, Charles, Paul and Eugene “Cookie” Williams.
Reva was a faithful member of Grace Bible Fellowship in Short Gap, W.Va. Pastor Brent Biller and wife, Saundra, were loved and ever faithful to her until the end.
Reva’s body was donated to the Maryland Anatomy Board. A memorial service will be announced when her remains are returned.
The family would like to express its deepest appreciation to hospice for its great care. Nurse Kris Crabtree, N.A., Maricay Welsh and sitter, Cheri Duncan, were all her angels. Also, nurse Jane Adams and special friend and sitter Gloria Schlosser.
