CUMBERLAND — James Wallace Hamilton Jr., 75, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at his home.
Born Sept. 17, 1937, in Paw Paw, W.Va., Mr. Hamilton was the son of the late James Wallace Hamilton Sr. and Mary Virginia (Bullett) Hamilton. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Marie Meade and Marion Louise Hamilton; and three brothers-in-law, Donald Carter, Jesse York, and Norman Cromwell.
James retired from Howell’s Trucking with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Friendship Haven Church. James loved to paint “anything.” In his younger years, he coached and played softball and was a diehard Steelers fan.
James is survived by his wife of 20 years, Alberta Hamilton; his sons, Frank Hamilton and wife, Cheryl of North Carolina, Jimmy Hamilton, Cumberland, and James York of Ohio; his step-son, Christopher Clanagan and wife, Sheena, Cumberland; his daughters, Diane Hebron and husband, Allen, Laurel, Delenia Hamilton, Pandora Foster, Jayma Hamilton, and Keisha York, all of Cumberland; and his step-daughter, Franchesca Dumas and husband, James, Cumberland; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his brothers, Thomas Hamilton, Baltimore, and Donald Hamilton and wife, Llewella, Cumberland; his sister, Elizabeth Carter, Defiance, Ohio; his brothers-in-law, Frances Williams and wife, Gayle, Cumberland, and Richard Williams, San Diego, Calif.; and his sisters-in-law, Saundra York, Lydia Meade, Francine Ross, Eleanora Cromwell, all of Cumberland, Barbara Owes, Philadelphia, Pa. and Bertha Wilson and husband, Bruce, Keyser, W.Va..
James is also survived by his godson, Darren Wilson; his goddaughter, Nataisha Cromwell; three special nieces, Kelly Sliger and husband, Joe, Katina Hamilton, Layaundra Cromwell; and a special friend, Cody Wigger Clanagan; and also, his three little buddies, Jazavier, Jamecia, Kee-Layziah
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Friendship Haven Church on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Floyd Bender officiating. The family will also receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
