— RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Brian George Traynor, 77, of Ridgeley, W.Va., passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 5, 1936, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Traynor was the son of the late George Traynor and Helen (Weir) Traynor.

Brian was a graduate of the American University and a United States Air Force Veteran having served with the Honor Guard. He retired from the Metropolitan Police Department with the rank of Inspector and also retired from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Brian was a member of the Ridgeley American Legion Post 136; the International Association of the Chiefs of Police; the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 90; and the Association of Retired Police for the District of Columbia. He was an avid skier and traveler having been to all 50 states.

Brian is survived by his loving companion of 25 years, Linda O’Connor; as well as many family members and friends.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
