SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Lucy Snodgrass, of San Diego, Calif., crossed over peacefully Monday morning, Aug. 15, 2011, at home.

Lucy was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Robert F. Bridges and Dorathy (Donahoe) Bridges. Lucy was raised in Beans Cove, Pa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Calvin Butler and David Snodgrass; granddaughter Sarah Crippen; and daughter Rita Wilson.

Lucy was a kind and generous soul, loved by many.

She is survived by daughter JoAnn SkyWatcher, of Ukiah, Calif.; son Ed Butler, of Winslow, Ark.; siblings Marian Lewis, of Cheyenne, Wy.; Bernita Spore, of Maryland; A Eileen Devaney, of Fairfax, Va., Vivian Cobert, of Vienna, Va., Luke Bridges, of Cumberland, Paul Bridges, of Clearwater, Fla., and Matthew Bridges, of Middletown; and numerous other extended family members.

She was a Sergeant in the WACS during World War II. She worked at Foremost Dairies for 19 years and was employed by Celanese during her stay in Cumberland.

Mass will be conducted in St. Mary Magdalene’s, San Diego, on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m., followed by a procession to Greenwood Mortuary.
