GERALD L. “JERRY” THRASHER [Newnan, Ga.]

NEWNAN, Ga. — Gerald Lambert “Jerry” Thrasher, 71, died at his home in Newnan, Nov. 8, 2013, with family by his side.  

He was born on Dec. 19, 1941, in Cumberland, to the late Lambert Thrasher and Pleasant Reis Thrasher.

He was a 1959 graduate of Southern High School, Oakland, attended the University of Maryland, and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Frostburg State.

Jerry was a member of the Newnan First United Methodist Church. He was a very active member of the Rawlings United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees in addition to installing the sound and computer systems there.

Jerry was a 25 year retired Army Reservist. His employment included Celanese Fiber Corp, VP of KelCo Federal Credit Union and owner of Ultrasound Electronics. His interests included woodworking, camping, flying, electronics and NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Lee Arnold Thrasher; their son, Jerry Brant Thrasher and his wife, Diane, and grandson J. Branden, Newnan; his brother, William (Bill) Thrasher, Corinth, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Ed Arnold and wife Romaine, Thomas, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Deanna Arnold and Doris Arnold, Aurora, W.Va.; a special aunt, Marie Knotts, Oakland; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many loving and caring friends.

A memorial service was held Nov. 10, 2013 at the Newnan First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Patton and Dr. Stuart Greene officiating.
