— ACCIDENT — Mae Florence Kahl, 95, of Accident, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.

Born May 16, 1918, near Swanton, she was the daughter of the late Cormany and Carrie (West) Brobst. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edwin Kahl, on May 5, 1995; three sisters, Mary Ash, “Margie” Broadwater and Mildred Vandendrissche and three brothers, Charles Leo, John and Thomas Brobst.

Mrs. Kahl, wife, mother, Christian, seamstress, homemaker, hard worker, great cook and bread baker, loved to entertain family, friends and neighbors, leaving her home open to all. She enjoyed canning and embroidery. Mae was a good teacher of life, she loved her grandchildren, who were the love of her life and her family. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Accident.

She is survived by two sons, George Kahl Sr. and wife, Donna, of Varna, Ill. and John Kahl and wife Mary, of Accident; three daughters, Juanita Thomas and Esther Trautwein and husband Buck, all of Oakland and Louise Plowman and husband Fred, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a brother, Robert Brobst, of Hackettstown, N.J.; one sister, Marie Coddington, of Accident; 12 grandchildren, Brenda Beisner, Debbie Bowser, Melissa Kovach, George Kahl Jr., John Kahl, Bernard Kahl, Laura Kahl, Dale Bittinger, Angie Rush, Chad Bittinger, Trisha Collis and Joshua Proudfoot and 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Hwy., Accident (McHenry), on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Zion Lutheran Church, Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Oester officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
