SPENCER, N.C. — Wanda S. Garner, 85, of Spencer, formerly of Keyser, W.Va. and McCoole, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 at the Magnolia Gardens Nursing Home in Spencer.
Born on Dec. 16, 1927 at Morgantown, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Sheridan and Cynthia (Field) Shaffer. She also was preceded in death by four sisters, Evelyn Mayfield, Jessie Vandervort, Josephine Iser and Marjorie Forman.
Mrs. Garner was a retired book keeper at both Potomac State College and West Virginia University. A Methodist by faith, she was a 1946 graduate of University High School in Morgantown and a 1947 graduate of Morgantown Business College.
Surviving are two sons, Keith N. Garner of Linwood, N.C. and Harold C. Garner of Allison Park, Pa.; one sister, Phyllis Kile of Rawlings; and two granddaughters, Christina and Louisa Garner.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Morgantown, on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013.
