BETTY R. PRESTON [Mount Savage]

MOUNT SAVAGE — Betty R. Preston, 80, Mount Savage, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 1, 1932, in Frostburg, to the late Norman and Pauline (Bever) Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Oscar L. Preston; son, Paul Owen Preston; brother, Carl Miller; and sisters, Mary Harvey, Dorothy Natolly and Shirley Smith. She was the last surviving of her immediate family.

Mrs. Preston was a homemaker; a member of Saint George's Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, the “Women of St. Georges” church group, and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are her two sons, Kenneth Preston and wife Karen, of Mount Savage, Douglas Preston and partner Marcelo Borges, of Carlisle, Pa.; one daughter, Rosalie Gearhart, of Flintstone; five grandchildren, Valerie Preston-Smith and husband Stephen, William Winebrenner and wife Marquita, Kenneth Preston Jr. and wife Stacey, G. Scott Winebrenner and wife Valerie and Michael Preston and wife Melanie; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday, July 15, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Requiem Eucharist will be held in Saint George’s Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, on Monday, July 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Theresa Brion and the Rev. Lydia  Martin officiating.

Interment will be in the Saint George’s Cemetery, Mount Savage. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made towards Saint George’s Episcopal Church, 12811 Saint George Lane NW, PO Box 655, Mount Savage, MD 21545.
