Claude E. "Ed" Barrick Jr. [Keyser, W.Va.]

KEYSER, W.Va. — Claude Edward "Ed" Barrick Jr., 81, of S. Main Street, Keyser, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.

Born on Dec. 19, 1930 at Keyser, he was a son of the late Claude Edward Barrick Sr. and Genevieve Gerstell (Bean) Barrick.  He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Norman Barrick, Gorman Barrick and Ralph "Pickle" Barrick.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Barrick was a graduate of Keyser High School and attended Potomac State College and Shepherd College.  He was previously employed at the Celanese Amcelle Plant, Kelly Springfield Tire Company, Allegany Ballistics Laboratory and Centofonti Trucking. Mr. Barrick was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War.  Mr. Barrick was a past member of Boyce-Houser Post 41, American Legion, Keyser and Nancy Hanks Post 3518 VFW, Keyser.  He was a member of the Keyser Church of the Brethren and was a life deacon of the church.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Betty Jean (Likens) Barrick; two daughters, Sandy Riggleman and husband Rick and Kelly Barrick, all of Keyser; five grandchildren, Brent T. Riggleman, Samantha Slaughter, Abby Slaughter, Jacob Malcolm and Kaleb Hardman.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Keyser Church of the Brethren, 150 South Main St., Keyser, on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dwight Ramsey officiating.  Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Keyser Church of the Brethren, 150 S. Main St., Keyser, WV 26726.
