LAWRENCE T. KOCH [Clearwater, Fla.]

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Lawrence Theodore Koch, 82, of Clearwater, passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013.

Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Edward William, Sr. and Alice Julia (Kelley) Koch. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Anne L. (McClaine) Koch and his brother Edward William Koch, Jr.

He was a 1948 graduate of Fort Hill High School; a 1959 graduate of Frostburg State with a Bachelors Degree in Science, and a graduate of Rutgers University with a Master Degree in Advanced Professional Mathematics. He served with the United States Navy from 1950-1956 and received an Honorable Discharge. Afterward he continued to serve with the Naval Reserves until retiring in 1990. He was also a veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two stars.

For 25 years he was a teacher with the Frederick County School System retiring in 1984 when he moved to Clearwater.  After relocating to Florida, he was a teacher for ten years with the Pasco County School System retiring in 1995.

He is survived by two sons, Robert C. Koch and wife Zoe and Paul E. Koch and fiancée Cindy L. Montgomery; a brother, Albert E. Koch and wife Beatrice; two sisters, Melissa E. (Koch) Mullis and Anna L. (Koch) Dyche and her fiance Thomas W. Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, Florida.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave. (www.scarpellifh.com) on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Dill officiating.

Interment will in Sunset Memorial Park.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
