— SHANKS, W.Va. — Blanche Annette Burcham, 70, of Shanks, W.Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the residence of her sister in Springfield, W.Va.

Blanche was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on July 15, 1942, the daughter of the late Richard and DeVerna Bernfeld Holmwood.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Burcham; one son, Gary and one daughter, Shelly.

Blanche was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Romney and a strong supporter of St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.

Blanche is survived by two sons, Richard P. Burcham and his significant other, Mary Anne Huffman and Paul H. Burcham Jr., both of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; one daughter, Robin Skipper and husband Wayne, of Springfield, W.Va; one brother, David Holmwood, of Darian, N.Y.; two sisters, Patricia Granica and husband Justin, of Irving, N.Y. and Elizabeth “Liz” Malcolm and husband Welton, of Springfield, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Shelly Skipper and fiance Larry Cannon, Scott Skipper, Crystal Fields and husband Anthony and Richard Peck; six great-grandchildren, Jacob Fields, Wyatt Cannon, Eli Skipper, Amari Peck, Addy Gamber and Riley Burcham.

The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m.

A rosary and wake service will be said during the visitation at 2:30 p.m. with Father Joseph Augustine officiating.  

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
