HAGERSTOWN — Richard Lee Lloyd, 79, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
Born Sept. 23, 1933, in Independence, W.Va., he was the son of the late Amos Lee and Hilda Catherine (Owens) Lloyd. He was also preceded in death by his two young children, Carol Marie and Patrick Owen Lloyd and two sisters, Alice Potts, of Short Gap, W.Va. and Betty Raines, of Fort Ashby, W.Va.
Mr. Lloyd loved the home where he grew up, his yard, and nature. The best memories of his life were the ones of the days spent on the mountains. He loved bluegrass and George Jones music and was also an avid football and baseball fan, the Redskins and Orioles being his favorite teams.
Surviving are his two daughters, Deborah (Lloyd) Kline and husband John, of Hagerstown and Cynthia (Lloyd) Crowley, of Hagerstown; two sons, Richard Lee Lloyd II, of Cumberland, and Jeffery Scott Lloyd and wife Betty Jane, of Hagerstown; one sister, Shirley Agnes Winterstine, of Short Gap; eight grandchildren, Devin Lloyd, Zachary Lloyd and wife Sarah, Rhett Lloyd, Christopher Lloyd and wife Karis, Michael Crowley, Casey Crowley, Richard Lloyd III, David Lloyd and Katie Barton and two great-grandchildren, Ryliegh and Zyler Lloyd.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifh.com) Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 5 p.m. with Pastor Larry Green officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Hospice of Washington County.
