TERRA ALTA, W.Va. — Priscilla A. Coppola, 73, of Terra Alta, passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on March 17, 1939 in Tunnelton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Lloyd and Nona Evelyn (Bolyard) Metheny.
She was a loyal and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Christian lady who shared love, patience, kindness and hospitality to all she met. She loved her family immensely and looked forward to spending time with them as well as her friends and neighbors. Not only was she an avid cook and gardener, working on the family farm, she was also a cook at East Preston High School and an area supervisor for the Christmas Around the World company for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling the world with her late husband, Edward Coppola, on the many trips she earned through CATW company. She was also a former member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Cranesville, W.Va., and St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Oakland.
She is survived by three children, Edward “Nick” Coppola and wife Kathy (Schmidt) of Panama City, Fla., Dianne Bateman of Oakland and Patricia A. Bennett and husband Joe of Johnstown, Pa.; grandchildren, Brian Coppola and wife Melissa of Panama City, Matthew Coppola and wife Danielle of Warrensburg, Mo., Kristin Nelsen and husband Elliot of Las Vegas, Nev., Nathan Coppola of Panama City, Robert Sypolt and Amanda Johnson of Oakland, Jessica Cummings and husband David of Oakland, Tristan Evans of Kyoto, Japan, and Aaron Evans of Lebanon, Ore.; great grandchildren, Kathrann, Julia and Caleb Coppola and Robby “B” and Raelynn Sypolt; and two brothers, Patrick Metheny and wife Marilyn and Steve Metheny and wife Carolyn, all of Terra Alta.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Edward Coppola; a brother, Donald Metheny; and a sister, Vera Dunson.
Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. and in the Faith United Methodist Church, 6715 Cranesville Road, Cranesville, on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. at which time a funeral service will be held.
Private interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Terra Alta.
