LORA H. SHEARING [Wooster, Ohio]

WOOSTER, Ohio — Lora H. Shearing died peacefully Friday, Dec. 7, 2012.

A private family service was held at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with Chaplain Bob Grover officiating.

Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road.

Lora was born Jan. 19, 1922 in Talladega, Ala., to Arthur and Lilla M. {Hiatt} Hutto.

She married A. Russell Shearing on Sept. 9, 1947, he survives.

She was a member of the Talladega Easter Star Chapter 363 for 50 years until it’s dissolution. Lora was the Charter President of Omega Chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Philanthropic Sorority and also Maryland State Parliamentarian of ESA. She was active in the Women’s Guild of Bethany United Church of Christ, Cuyahoga Falls and St. Matthews United Church of Christ, Cumberland.

She was an above average golfer at the Cumberland Country Club, Wooster Country Club and Sebring, Florida Country Club. She played ladies amateur tournament golf in the Maryland/Washington area. She enjoyed reading and world travel, visiting 28 foreign locations.

Surviving in addition to her husband Russell of 65 years are loving friends, Victoria and Paul Green of Cumberland and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one sister-in-law, five brothers, son, Stephen and daughter, Linda Cormack.
