— LAVALE  — Shirley Ramey Manuel, 77, of LaVale, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 24, 1935, in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Hale) Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie H. Manuel, in 1997 and a brother, Robert Ramey.

Shirley worked for the Allegany Public School System in the cafeteria, and was also a devoted homemaker. She attended Oldtown Baptist Church for four years, where she took part in the Sunday School Ministry. Shirley loved watching the game show channel, playing crossword puzzles, and in her younger years she enjoyed traveling.

Surviving are her two sons, Randy Manuel and wife Patti, of Oak Ridge N.C. and Robert Manuel, of LaVale; two sisters, Julia Moore and Louise Kyzer; two grandchildren, Brittany Long and husband Dustin and Amanda Manuel and one great-granddaughter, Natalie Long.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., Cresaptown, on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Merrill officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ark of Hope Rescue Animal Shelter, 13400 Arctic Ridge Lane, Oldtown, MD 21555.
