Concert Association season will bring stars to Cumberland

— It’s hard to believe we are less than three weeks from the end of 2013 and we are already deep into the winter cold weather. It’s dark at 5 p.m. and it seems that the line “long winter’s nap” is evident in Cumberland. Or is it?

There is life after dark in Cumberland … yes, even in the fall and winter, and Tri-State Concert Association is just one of the many reasons to turn off the TV re-runs, brave the cool weather and get out in your hometown.

The 2014 Legends of Rock n Roll division is over the top with six original artists!

On Jan. 11, 60’s-70’s music and TV star Tony Orlando will be in concert at the Allegany High School auditorium. Orlando’s concert is the opening show for Legends of Rock n Roll season which will also include legendary 60’s artists Tommy Roe (“Dizzy”), Billy Joe Royal (“Down in the Boondocks”), Dickie Lee (“Patches”), The Chiffon’s (“One Fine Day”) and Barbara Lewis (“Hello Stranger”), California’s top doo wop a capella group The Alley Cats, and one of Pittsburgh’s best variety 50’s-90’s group, Sam Farrella and the Holidays.

The Country Live group has also secured the top Texas Swing band (and local favorite) 9 time Grammy winning band, Asleep at the Wheel (“Get Your Kicks — Route 66”), featuring former Paw Paw, W.Va., resident Ray Benson for our March show.

This show marks the return of Ray to our area after a lengthy absence and is anticipated to be the highlight of Tri-State Concert’s country season.

Also performing in 2014 will be one of the top classic rock tribute tours — Blue Moon Swamp: The John Fogerty/CCR tribute.

All this is right in your own hometown at Allegany High School.

Our all-volunteer organization brings these great shows to our area to keep your entertainment money local and we support many local businesses. It’s so expensive to travel to see great entertainment and we’re doing everything we can to bring it to you.

If you have never been to our shows, you are missing out on something wonderful. You can visit our website at www.tri-stateconcerts.com for all the information on the artists, the dates, contact information and our organization.

If you have been to our shows, a big “Thank you” and please pass the word how great it is to stay here for great entertainment.

And please continue to support us. Without your support, we (and many other organizations) could not continue — and winter would be even more cold and dark in Cumberland.
