Former resident needs help paying for cancer treatment

To the Editor:
Cumberland Times-News

— Donna Yonker (Rice), a former resident of Cumberland and Fort Hill High School graduate, is struggling from the effects of stage IV lung and brain cancer.

She survived the 1 percent chance of still being alive today, but she is now faced with short term memory loss, difficulties walking and is in need of physical therapy.

Unfortunately, her insurance will not pay for continued care and our state and federal health systems do not offer a program that Donna can participate in. She is in desperate need of our help.

Donna has been released from a skilled nursing facility as the family continues to search for alternative solutions.
