Years ago, George Orwell predicted what would happen

I have been reading the back and forth between your letter writers where some support Christianity while others oppose it. The sad fact from my point of view is that those opposed are winning in the courts and with some of the political leaders.

One of the primary points that some judges use to strike at Christianity is that their “Ten Commandments” and such offend those not of the same beliefs.

Prayers have been struck down in schools, Bibles at some work places and the mention of the Lord in most settings.

This should not be a surprise to us because a prescient author, George Orwell wrote a book many years ago called “1984”and made the case of what it will be like when the full force of a humanist/socialist society takes hold. This is the direction our nation is moving.

I am waiting for one of President Obama’s henchmen to decree that the cross on the top of Christian churches must be altered because the cross offends some people. In the book “1984”, the top of the cross was removed leaving a “T.”

The book uses this artifact to begin measuring time starting with the date of the invention of the “model T” Ford.. That way they mention time as “the year of our T” and got rid of A.D. at the same time.

It is all coming down on us if the Lord doesn’t come down first.

God certainly orchestrates circumstances that cause us to marvel. The recent flood In Cresaptown that Calvary Baptist Church/School endured is proving to be yet another miracle birthed out of devastation.

File this one under the We Thought We’d Heard Everything category: A man who attempted the armed robbery of a pizza shop is now suing the pizzeria and the employees who tackled him and wrestled his gun away during the holdup.

I’d like to pose a theoretical scenario to Cal Thomas.

If a medical specialist said, “Cal, you’ve got a serious physical problem. Do nothing and you’ll die soon. Follow my prescription, which involves certain life-style changes, and there’s a good probability you’ll live, even if your life may be a bit more constrained than now.”
