Some clarification is needed regarding these radical ideas

— Perhaps this old liberal could breathe some levity into the radical comments flowing through this section on a regular basis.

Neither the Maryland General Assembly nor the U.S. Congress will ever allow five counties to separate and form a 51st state. Ain’t gonna happen, don’t waste the energy.

According to the Constitution, the Affordable Care Act was passed in Congress and signed by the president, making it the law of the land. The arch conservative chief justice, John Roberts, said it passed constitutional muster.

The tyrannical behavior we have been witnessing is that of right-wing extremists who cite public opinion polls as the reason to dismantle this law and mob rule isn’t in the constitution.

Their anti-American behavior has shut down our government, and it is they who are in contempt of our founding fathers.

Our government is the voice of “We the People” and if you know history you know that government regulation has been an important part of our economic success.

Without it the Robber Barons would have continued to milk midwestern farmers; we would all be driving Ford cars and buying gas from Standard Oil; 10-year-olds would be spending their school days buffing cars in an auto body shop; workers would be working 12-hour days in unsafe environments and old people would be shopping in the pet food section of grocery stores.

We the people have every right to set a minimum, living wage and anyone who cannot pay employees a living wage should not be in business.
