To the Editor:
I can no longer keep silent in the face of constant attacks on our liberties and freedom, and now, our moral character as well.
Our president has crossed the line many times, but his latest comment is reprehensible — an agenda driven comment meant to shame, humiliate, and perpetuate feelings of guilt: “Shame on us if we’ve forgotten. I haven’t forgotten those kids.”
This statement, spoken by President Obama to lawmakers on March 28, while surrounded by several grieving mothers of slain children from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, was nothing more than a devious effort to subvert the Second Amendment and strip us of our right to keep and bear arms.
Mr. Obama, I don’t know one single person who has forgotten this massacre of human life … not one! How dare you even suggest such a thing? Who exactly do you think you are? Oh, never mind. We know the answer to that one.
You are using the deaths of these innocent kids and the educators killed in this attack to advance your personal agenda to disarm the American public and make us all vulnerable to criminals, evil doers, and, yes, even our own government! (Why don’t you tell us the real reason behind the stockpiling of billions of rounds of hollow-point ammunition and various weaponry in the Department of Homeland Security and NOAA?)
Perhaps, rather than trying to shame us into helping you advance your evil agenda, you should turn your attention to the four Americans killed in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012.
We’d all like to know how and why that happened on your watch, what role you played, and why you are trying to cover it up by not allowing the survivors to recount the events as they took place during that horrendous ordeal.
Who were the others injured in that attack? We’ve not forgotten them or the brave souls who died defending them.
Or, perhaps, you and Attorney General Holder could come clean on the events surrounding the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry (December 2010) and countless Mexican Nationals by drug cartels along the porous Mexican border in the gun running fiasco known as Fast and Furious.
Why has that never been resolved to the satisfaction of the American public … never mind his grieving family? Oh, yeah, you sealed the records on that one! Guess we’ll never know, but, we haven’t forgotten.
And, lest we forget, what about the mass murder committed by Maj. Nidal Hasan back in November 2009 when he turned his weapon on unarmed fellow soldiers in Fort Hood and snuffed out 13 lives — 14 counting an unborn baby?
You do remember that act of “workplace violence,” don’t you? (It wouldn’t surprise me if he never makes it to trial.) That one hasn’t escaped us either, Mr. president.
So, stop with the theatrics, Mr. Obama. It’s long past cool and we’re fed up with it.
Using the tragedy of Newtown, Conn., because it involved young children, to shame lawmakers into voting for your gun control measures is disgraceful, deceitful, and insensitive. Why now, Mr. President? Why, all of a sudden, is it so necessary? It disregards the lives of all the others who have died under your leadership of our country; and I use that word loosely!
“Shame on us if we’ve forgotten?” No, shame on you, sir, for using your power as president to destroy this country, subvert our Constitution, and hurt and deceive so many decent Americans. However, shame on us, for letting you get away with it!
