Obama has earned no points for leadership

What a revelation — we get to see our so called commander-in-chief (or is it campaigner-in-chief) in action. To listen to all of President Obama’s talking heads we wonder what is the strategic goal for this action. What do we hope to accomplish?

Obama says a shot over the bow will send a powerful message to Assad; don’t use chemical weapons again. Mr. President, even I know Assad will thumb his nose at you. If you are not prepared to degrade Assad’s ability to wage war stay home and continue to campaign, after all you seem pretty good at that. You sure don’t get any points for leadership.

This situation must not seem too important to you what with all the leaks coming from your administration and the fact that you will not even call an emergency meeting of Congress to debate what to do. But then again we are used to your tricks — if Congress disagrees with you, you will go around Congress by executive order; works for you, right? We have learned our staunchest ally has said no to your venture, the French are dragging their feet, the Turks are reluctant to engage so much for your support of the willing.

Your policy in the Middle East has been about as successful as your economic policy here at home. Let us take a look at your Middle East policy:

• Benghazi (knew nothing) — Four heroes killed; your secretary of state stated “what difference does it make.”

• Iran — Still making atomic bombs.

• Egypt — Backed the wrong party, a country in chaos.

• Syria — Still to be determined.

In all of this you claim ignorance to what was going on. Give me a break. Again, how about some leadership for a change? I for one am fed up with your claim of ignorance. We are supposed to be a powerful country, yet we are the laughing stock of the world.

My father used to tell me “your word is your bond.” That is a lesson you could learn, Mr. President. Don’t make promises or threats you can’t back up; it makes you look like a fool.

In closing, let me state for the record I did not vote for you the first time or the second time you ran. You have taken an exceptional country and done your best to trash everything this country is about. But your time is coming and soon.

The American people are fed up with your failure to lead. In spite of your games we the people will prevail, so help us God.

The idea of fracturing for natural gas makes many people anxious about potential harmful effects. For that reason alone, it is incumbent on Maryland government to require full disclosure of chemicals used in the process.

I’d like to pose a theoretical scenario to Cal Thomas.

If a medical specialist said, “Cal, you’ve got a serious physical problem. Do nothing and you’ll die soon. Follow my prescription, which involves certain life-style changes, and there’s a good probability you’ll live, even if your life may be a bit more constrained than now.”

Without our veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, where would America be today? It is anyone’s guess, however certainly not the Freedom and Liberty we enjoy.

Those of you who have been here before know how I feel about the late great Len Bias, who I will remember foremost as Leonard Bias, the polite, spindly Bambi-eyed kid from Hyattsville’s Northwestern High School, who could throw a dunk through the floor, yet had the most beautiful jump shot I have ever seen.
