Websites offer information on women’s history, black history

To the Editor:

— The Western Maryland Regional Library (WHILBR) hosts numerous websites which are of local historical interest.

As this is Women’s History Month, one of these websites I draw your attention to is “Historic Women of Allegany County” at http://www.whilbr.org/AlleganyWomen/index.aspx.

Although Black History Month has officially passed, several excellent recent newspaper features and letters have highlighted this often overlooked element of our regional history.

Pursuant to this, the reader might want to check out the “Allegany County African American History” website at http://www.whilbr

.org/AlleganyAfricanAmericans/index.aspx.

Or to save time, simply “Google” or search the title of the website and it will take you to the link.

Thank you.
