County United Way needs your donations

Cumberland Times-News

—

The County United Way is at a critical point in its annual fund-raising campaign. It still needs $440,000 to make its goal of $720,000 for Allegany, Garrett, Hampshire and Mineral counties.
The United Way helps thousands and thousands of people throughout our region. In fact, it is estimated that one out of three people in the region is touched by United Way contributions with either emergency services, prescription assistance or daily meals.
One out of every seven students is involved in one of the United Way’s after-school or summer programs, providing a safe environment as well as mentoring to build strong minds and bodies for future success. The United Way tells its donors that 99 cents of every dollar it collects stays in the local community.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Family Crisis Resource Center, Western Maryland Food Bank, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Allegany Health Right, Salvation Army and American Red Cross are just a few of the agencies that rely on United Way donations.
It is easy to give, either by check, credit card or payroll deductions; online at the website www.cuw.org or on Facebook — CUWROCKS. Checks should be made payable to County United Way, Inc., 71 Baltimore Street, 3rd Floor, Cumberland, MD 21502.
The United Way has a long tradition of enabling neighbors to help neighbors in our community. But the help can only continue through the generosity of the community at large.
