Wants to bait deer on state

Dear Mike,

Why is it legal to feed (while hunting deer) on private ground and not on state ground when a lot of state ground is surrounded by private ground and a hunter could bait beside that state ground?

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to stop baiting on private ground, but if a hunter has the right to bait on private ground that borders state ground why shouldn’t I have the right to bait on state ground.

This letter isn’t just about baiting, it’s about feeding the animals. Because of the ice damage and the gypsy moth to the oak trees, the only feed is the browse. I’ve been trying for years to get the Department of Natural Resources to put in a feed plot with no results.

Also, in one of your articles you were talking about changing the law so you can kill two bucks with the bow. I’ve got a way for that to work.

Give the hunter the choice of killing two bucks with his choice of weapon, but once he kills two bucks with one weapon he’s only allowed one more buck with his choice of weapon.
