Be advised about fishing on Potomac

Beginning June 1, it will become illegal for Maryland residents who have a nonresident West Virginia fishing license but do not have a Maryland resident fishing license to angle in the Potomac River or its north branch.

The change came about with the passage and signing of House Bill 229 in this year’s Maryland General Assembly. The legislation was requested by the Maryland Inland Fisheries Service.
