Bear Watch - 12/15/13

With the death of a 225-pound male black bear after dark on Dec. 4, the total road kill in Maryland this year rose to 40, according to an unofficial tally kept by the Cumberland Times-News. “The bear disabled a Ford F-250 pickup,” said Clarissa Harris of the Maryland Wildlife & Heritage Service. “The driver was a Frederick resident who was headed home from Ohio.” The incident took place two miles west of Keysers Ridge on Interstate 68. The Times-News count for 2012 was 52.
