College schedules firearms courses

— CUMBERLAND —  Current and prospective firearms owners can gain safety training and qualify for Maryland or West Virginia licensure in courses offered by Allegany College of Maryland’s Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development.

 Both are presented in partnership with Boston Hill Training, a  safety training company owned and operated by Rick Sivic Sr. of Frostburg.

The licensing course will be offered twice this semester: April 26 and May 31. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to noon each day. Students must be 21 to enroll.

 NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course teaches basic knowledge, skills and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely as outlined by the National Rifle Association. It includes eight hours of classroom instruction and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.

 It will be offered 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 10. Students must be 21 to enroll and must bring a firearm and ammunition for the range portion of the course.
