Boar season open in W.Va.

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia hunters began seeking wild boar on Saturday.

The season runs through Nov. 2 and is restricted to Boone, Logan, Raleigh and Wyoming counties.

The dates were announced by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.

The boar harvest has decreased since the record high of 158 in 1995. Because of declining boar numbers, gun hunters are restricted to an October firearms season.  Wild boar archery season has been underway since Oct. 12 and will run through Dec. 31.
