Raptor rehab center opens in Marion County

— FAIRMONT, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia Raptor Rehabilitation Center has opened a new facility in Marion County.

The rehabilitation center is located on 285 acres in Fairmont. It includes a building that can house 25 birds and an educational center.

Media outlets report that center officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new facility on Sunday.

Founder and executive director Michael Book says the center formerly operated out of a horse barn with no running water.

Book says the new facility will allow the center to care for twice as many birds as it did previously.
