MINNETONKA, Minn. — Mike Strandlund, the longtime editor of Minnetonka-based Bowhunting World magazine and a member of the Bowhunters Hall of Fame, died recently while vacationing in the Philippines. He was 56.
Strandlund, of Loretto, Minn., considered himself fortunate that he was able to make a living and excel at merging his two passions, bowhunting and writing.
“All the most important things in life — patience and acceptance, beauty and honor, strength and love, physical and mental acuity, challenge and compassion — are all distilled in bowhunting,” he told the hall of fame in 2003, when he was inducted for his literary excellence in advancing the sport. “That's what makes it so fascinating to do, and to write about.”
