ELK GARDEN, W.Va. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begins the 2014 recreation season at Jennings Randolph Lake on Tuesday at 8 a.m., when the boat launch opens on the West Virginia shore.
The launch is at Howell Run, just off state Route 46, three miles north of Elk Garden.
The boat launch on the Maryland shore, managed by the Maryland Park Service, will also open Tuesday.
The launch is reached by way of Mount Zion Road off state Route 135 near the salt shed on Backbone Mountain.
Launching is free on the West Virginia side, but costs $5 in Maryland.
The 2014 Maryland Park Service Passport can be purchased for $75 for Maryland residents or $100 for out-of-state residents and offers unlimited boat launching.
