Count the ways

— Of the 3,325 gobblers harvested in Maryland during the recent season, 3,203 or 96.3 percent were bagged via shotgun. Bowhunters using vertical bows accounted for 83 gobblers, 2.5 percent of the take. The remainder of the kill, 39 birds (1.2 percent), were tagged by crossbow users, according to Bob Long, turkey biologist for the Maryland Wildlife & Heritage Service.
