GRANTSVILLE — The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will conduct a one-day trapper education class covering basic techniques and having a strong emphasis on the responsible treatment of animals, ethical trapper behavior, safety and legal methods.
The free class will take place at the Casselman Valley Sportsmen’s Club, 8751 National Pike from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 21.
There will be a short classroom session followed by an outside demonstration of proper trap handling and setting. There will be a written test at the end of the course.
Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Trapper Education and become eligible to obtain a furbearer permit allowing them to trap in Maryland.
Registration must take place before Sept. 13. Students must pickup and complete a workbook that will be brought to the class.
