Stock The Yough event succeeds

— FARMINGTON, Pa. — The Orvis® Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s Field Club recently released 6,000 yearling trout (6–9 inches) to benefit the Middle Youghiogheny trophy trout waters.  More than $10,000 was generated through two recent Stock The Yough sporting clay benefit events held at the resort.

“In 2010, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission stocked sections of the Youghiogheny River with yearling trout and the trout flourished. As avid fishermen ourselves, we believe these yearling trout have a much better chance of survival than the typical fingerling which are less than 6 inches,” said Matt Grobe, director of activities at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.

Members of the Nemacolin Field Club and Activities teams were joined alongside staff from Orvis Pittsburgh, all of whom volunteered their time last week to stock eight sections of the Middle Youghiogheny.  Nemacolin’s Field Club is planning a similar event this fall.
